MY CREATIVE STORY : The BEGINNING

I recall spending countless happy hours transforming colouring-in books as a child.

I didn’t only colour outside the lines but also filled the entire page!

Drawing, dancing, singing, creating plays and performing in them with cousins and being a magician’s assistant at birthday parties.

I loved to escape with a stack of vinyl records and admire the artwork draped on their covers, in the eighties and nineties, absorbing all their rich details. Each cover revealed a unique experience: an exciting concoction of imagery, language and emotions to muse on.

Sketching original fashion designs was another creative pursuit; and as a teenager…begging my Mom to sew them up for me! Later completing a qualification in Clothing Design and Production and spending a few years working in that industry in South Africa.

PAINTING & DRAWING

Fast forward to 2012…

I decided to focus on developing my painting & drawing skills, so joined the Waikato Society-of-Arts in New Zealand.

Diving into as many classes as I could, on a returning basis, to explore my enjoyment and loosen up from all the technical / graphic drawing practice.

During that time, unexpectedly or serendipitously receiving a commission of 6 paintings for a private collector.

I can mention the most valuable & enduring discoveries NOW:

taking the time to study the nature of each media, oil paint and drawing figures - ever captivating and magical.
